Getting Started with Homeschooling
If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’re looking at homeschooling! Congratulations!
I think homeschooling is one of the greatest choices parents can make for their children (but I’m a little biased). And there’s a lot of factors to consider when choosing education options.
TL;DR version
- Only students who are 6 years old or over on September 1st need to make the choice whether to “legally” homeschool
- You need to let your home school district know you’re homeschooling
- You may need to take a test in grades 3, 5, 8, and 10
- Charter schools are not “legal homeschooling*”, but many times you, as a parent, will have the same questions as a “legal homeschooler”, so stick around and I can help answer your questions
*For the purposes of this site and how I can help you, if you’ve chosen an option other than full time public or private school, I can still help you. And even most families who are in full time school can (and should) do some form of learning at home! 📚
