About Me

Hi! I am Jessica. I grew up in Oregon City, have lived and taught in Oregon, Maryland, and eastern Washington, and recently moved back with my family. I love reading, teaching, and coffee. In our free time, our family enjoys camping and hiking. 

Certification I am an Oregon certified teacher with endorsements in Language Arts, Social Studies, and ESL

Education have my masters in teaching from George Fox University and B.A. in Linguistics and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Oregon.

Experience I have taught all grade levels in public school and homeschool settings for almost 15 years and am excited to help your student learn and grow this academic year! I was homeschooled locally myself and am currently homeschooling my two children, and have helped families navigate both starting homeschooling and graduating from homeschool. This is my fifth year teaching homeschool classes

My homeschool philosophy I love the freedom and flexibility that homeschool offers for both the student and for the family. Oregon especially grants families a great deal of versatility in how families homeschool.

In my personal homeschooling, I am a little more eclectic than you’d expect 😜 I’m usually quite firm on the foundational skills, but once they have those down, I love when my kids start their own projects and delve way deeper into subject matter than I would have ever assigned because they were truly interested and engaged. But I’m also very intuitive to what students need and when we need to dial back and establish better routines to get some of the topics that maybe aren’t so “fun” covered ☺️
